Funeral services for Gerald L. "Jerry" Hill, 59, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Wednesday at the funeral home, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30PM. Mr. Hill died Saturday, April 4, 2015, at his home after a brief battle with cancer. Jerry was born May 23, 1955, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Odell and Alice Van den Berghe Hill. He married Joyce Zumbrunnen June, 20, 1992, in Davenport, IA. He worked for Cobham Life Support, Davenport, and was currently a tool and die maker for John Deere Harvester, East Moline. Jerry enjoyed woodworking, brewing his own beer, and anything to do with antique John Deere tractors. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hill, East Moline; daughters, Amy Houston Catani (Paul Catani) Naperville, IL, and Marci Byrd, Rock Island; son, David Houston, Antioch, CA; grandchildren, Eva Catani, Gianna and Lilah Byrd, and Mia Catani, who is due July 15; sister, Kathleen Roberson, Rolla, MO; brothers, Thomas (Gail) Hill, Fort Wayne, IN, and Richard (Peggy) Hill, East Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Patricia Fetter. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
