Obituary

Funeral services for Gerald "Jerry" Orendorff, 77, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Saturday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL, where Military Honors will be provided by the Quad City Chapter #168 Korean War Veterans Association. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Orendorff died Wednesday, August 09, 2006 at home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Jerry was born July 14, 1929 in Davenport, IA, the son of Lee and Bernice (Bethel) Orendorff. He married Patricia Hoffman April 27, 1950 in Muscatine, IA. He later married Dixie Tysma August 14, 1981 in Moline, IL. He had served in the US Army during the Korean War. He had worked at John Deere Plow Planter, Moline, IL, retiring in 1987 after 29 years of service. In his earlier years he had raced stock cars locally. He enjoyed the Indianapolis 500, fishing and baking. He loved Christmas lights. He was an accomplished archer. He was a member of the Quad City Chapter #168 Korean War Veterans Association and the East Moline Veterans Committee. Survivors include: his wife Dixie Orendorff of East Moline, IL; daughters and son-in-law, Judy and Steve Spahn of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Jodi McCaw-Wolterbeek and Rik Wolterbeek of Walhalla, S.C., Geraldine and Don Brownfield of Black Canyon, AZ; daughter-in-law, Nancy Orendorff-Polito of Moline, IL; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Diana and Bo Eckert of Silvis, IL; stepson and daughter-in-law, John and Renee Tysma of East Moline, IL; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Jackie and Jim Ryan of Hannibal, MO, Joyce Griffin of Simpsonville, S.C.; brother Rod Orendorff of Nickel, IA; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his: parents; daughter, Kimberly; son, Jim; sister, June; brothers, LeRoy, Wayne, and Gene. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
