Funeral services for Gerald E. "Jerry" Smith, 67, Silvis, are 12 Noon Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Smith died Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. A memorial fund has been established. Jerry was born February 22, 1938 in Kewanee, IL, the son of Gerald E. and Mercedes E (Hampton) Smith. He married Eva Ruth Campbell, November 22,1980 in East Moline. He was a US Navy Veteran. Jerry enjoyed woodworking, wintering in Arizona, traveling in his RV, an occasional trip to the Riverboats, fishing trips, and most of all his grandchildren. His most recent employment was with Best Improvement Company. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, children and spouses Debbie Ann and Tony Schlieper, Colona, IL, Vonnie Hopson, Pinellas Park, FL, Paul and Patti Campbell, Port Byron and Eugene and Denise Campbell, East Moline, nine grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, sister Sally Lane, Moline, and brothers and sisters-in-law Richard and Marcella Smith, Moline, Orlie and Karen Smith, East Moline and Thomas Smith, East Moline. His parents and son Gerald "Little Jerry" precede him in death.
