Funeral services for Geraldine "Gerry" Allen, 90, a resident of Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, formerly of East Moline, are 10 AM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Entombment is in Rock Island Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation is 4-7 PM Monday at the funeral home. Gerry passed away with her daughter at her side on Saturday, March 28, 2009. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the East Moline Public Library or to the activity department at Illini Restorative Care. Gerry was born May 14, 1918 in Silvis, the daughter of Elmer and Ellen (Settle) Frels. She graduated from Port Byron High School. She married Rodney Samuel Allen on December 25, 1938 in Cordova. Rodney died in 1992. Gerry had worked as a receptionist for Dr. M.F. Weissman in East Moline for 13 years, and also sold Sarah Coventry Jewelry for 15 years, retiring in 1968. She never saw a piece of jewelry that she didn't think she should have. She was extremely proud of her loving family. Gerry enjoyed dancing and was an avid reader of romance novels. She had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, East Moline and the East Moline Junior Woman's. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Melinda Jane and David Womack, East Moline, grandson; Michael Womack of Silvis, great grandchildren Evan and McKenzie Womack, Silvis, two nieces and a nephew. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Fred Frels and sister Sara Harsch Parker.
