Amid the prayers and songs of her children and grandchildren, Geraldine "Jerri" M. Steele, 84, Moline, died Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Genesis Illini, Silvis. Funeral services are 11 AM Monday at Homewood Evangelical Free Church, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 2-5PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to Homewood Church. Jerri was born April 21, 1929 in Moline, the daughter of Kenneth and Margaret Taber. She married her sweetheart, Paul Steele on September 20, 1947 in Moline. Mrs. Steele graduated from Hurley's Beauty School in 1955 and received her license in Chicago. Jerri was the proprietor of Jerri's Red Carpet Beauty Salon for nearly 50 years. Mrs. Steele enjoyed painting, sketching and serving her family and friends. Her chief joy was raising her four daughters with her husband. Central to her life was her faith in Jesus Christ. Jerri and Paul have been active members of Homewood Evangelical Free Church for over 40 years. Survivors include her husband of over 66 years, Paul, daughters and sons-in-law Paula and James Bulens, East Moline, Marla and Larry Guerrero, Franklin, TN, Claudia Lotz, Moline and Jana and Bart Allen, Raleigh, NC, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Betty Piliponis and Bonnie Schwartz, both of Moline, and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
