Geraldine Rose "Gerry" VanderBeke, 90, East Moline, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 10, 2019 surrounded by her family. Funeral services are 10 AM Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Gerry was born on October 30, 1928 on a farm in Lindsay, NE, the daughter of Joseph and Helena (Kurtenbach) Diederich. She married Gaston "Stoney" VanderBeke on August 18, 1948 in Pekin, IL. He died May 1, 2006. Gerry belonged to the former St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline and Our Lady of Guadalupe, Silvis. She was a member of Short Hills Country Club where she enjoyed playing bridge and golf. For many years, she delivered Meals on Wheels and drove cancer patients to treatment.

Survivors include her children; Sybil VanderBeke, Moline, Susan (Joseph) Weinert, Geneseo and Marc (Debbie) VanderBeke, East Moline, grandchildren; Richard (Tammy) McSwain, Mary (Tim) Thompson, Adam (Angie) McSwain, Samantha Weinert, Annie (Sage) Cattabriga-Alosa, Joseph (Sarah) VanderBeke and Kathryn (Keith) Grage, fourteen great-grandchildren and her brother, Joseph Diederich.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Evelyn, Adeline, Luella, Clarence, Elmer, Cyril, Edwin, Harold, Eugene, Roman and Kenneth.
