Funeral services for Gerrold "Gary" W. George, 57, East Moline, are 11 AM Saturday June 4, 2005 at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 2 hours prior to services. A memorial fund has been established. Mr. George passed from this life on Monday, May 30, 2005 at The VA Hospital, Iowa City with the assurance that his life was full of love and integrity. He is now at peace with the Lord. Gary was born October 15, 1947 in Buffalo, MO, the son of Leland and Gladys (Gott) George. He married Loretta Day, May 29, 1965 in Conway, MO. Mr. George owned and operated George Auto Sales, Moline for the past 25 years. Gary loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a truly good and honorable man. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart. He enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife of 40 years Loretta, daughter Teresa Meza, Moline, son and daughter-in-law Terry and Jennifer George, Killeen, TX, grandchildren Ashley Cole, Elizabeth George and Haylea George, his mother Gladys of Springfield, MO, a sister Betty, Eldridge, IA and a brother Billy, Springfield, MO.
