Funeral services for Gilbert A. Margis, 73, of Silvis, IL will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at East Moline Four Square Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mr. Margis went to be with the Lord,Friday, October 6, 2006 at Trinity Pathway Hospice at Terrace Park, Bettendorf, IA. Memorials may be made to East Moline Foursquare Church. Gilbert was born October 27, 1932 in Chicago, IL, the son of Frank and Grace (Linnerud) Margis. He spent the early years of his life growing up in South Beloit, IL. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Sandra Smith May 23, 1964 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, IL. They where married 42 years with Christ in their life giving them a wonderful son. Gilbert retired in 1991 from the former Case/IH Plant, East Moline, after 31 years of service. He was an active member of the East Moline Foursquare Church, where he held several church positions, including greeter. He was a member of the East Moline American Legion Post 227, where he was part of the Color Guard. He had a wonderful sense of humor, always laughing and joking. Survivors include: his wife, Sandra Margis of Silvis; son, Allen Margis of Davenport; special chosen grandchildren Shauna, Gretchen, Angela, Laurel, Danny, and Gabriel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley Wright of South Beloit, Evelyn and Fran Tranbarger of Cincinnati, OH; Linda Gilbert of South Beloit, Lyla and Dan Williams of Rockton, IL; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Nancy Margis of South Beloit; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronald and Cathy Wright of Davenport, IA. He is preceded in death by his: parents; brother, Don Margis; brother-in-law, "Pete" Gilbert. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
