Funeral services for Gilbert T. "Gil" Lopez, 80, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation will be 2:00-6:00 PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 5:30 PM. Mr. Lopez died Saturday, December 29, 2012 at his home. Memorials may be made to the family. Gil was born August 22, 1932 in Chillicothe, IL, the son of Panfilo and Josephina Rodriguez Lopez. He married Mary Sandoval July 14, 1956 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. He retired from John Deere Harvester, East Moline, in 1987, after nearly 30 years of service. He enjoyed baseball greatly. He was a devoted Chicago Cubs Fan. He loved his family and he especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Lopez, Silvis; daughter, Lada (Jose) Rangel, Colona; sons, Larry Lopez, Moline, Mario Lopez, Coal Valley, and Gilbert Frank Lopez, Silvis; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lenora Bustamante, Chicago, IL, Louise Acosta, Chicago, Delores (Fernando) Delgadillo of Bartonville, IL; brother, Jesse (Margaret) Lopez of Rock Island, IL; sister-in-law, Nadine Wakefield of Rock Island, IL.
