Obituary

Funeral services for Gladys P. Taylor, 92, of Silvis, will be 11:30 AM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00AM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mrs. Taylor died June 3, 2010, at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis. Memorials may be made to Hospice for Humanity or St. Anne's Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Gladys Chinlund was born August 28, 1917, in Aledo, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas and Florence Lindblad Chinlund. She subsequently lived in Kewanee, IL. She married Wilbert (Bill) Taylor May 26, 1941. He preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 2003. In her early years she worked at the Kewanee Woolworth, and during WWII in Manhattan, NY. She also lived In Key West and Cedar Key, Florida during WWII, as her husband served in the United States Coast Guard. She was a loving, kind, caring, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, visiting family, and watching the PGA. Survivors include her son, Rodney (Carolyn) Taylor, Cleveland, Tennessee; her daughter, Mindy (Dan) Hoffman, Germantown, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Brian (Stephanie) Hoffman, Fuquay-Varina, NC, Brad (Carol) Hoffman, Angier, NC, Kristoffer (Sara) Hoffman Clarkston MI, Shane Taylor and Kimberly Taylor (Cleveland, TN); nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Ray, Silvis Genesis IRC. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John in WWII and Raymond Chinlund, Kewanee.
