Glen Dale Anderson, 90, of Geneseo, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025, at UPH-Trinity, Rock Island.  Per his wishes cremation rites were accorded. Glen's family will host a Celebration of Life for Glen on Saturday, May 31st, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Geneseo, IL. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or to the First Lutheran Church, Geneseo, IL in memory of Glen.

Glen was born on May 7, 1934, in Moline, the son of Fred and Edna (Granell) Anderson.  He graduated from United Township in 1952.  He played football and graduated from Western Illinois University and received advanced degrees from the University of Iowa and Northern Illinois University.

He spent 30-plus years in education teaching, coaching, teaching driver's education, and in guidance and administration roles.  He was one of a team which initiated the "Middle School Movement" in Illinois and Wisconsin in the 1970s and 1980s.

After his retirement, he volunteered at Hammond-Henry Hospital and at Geneseo High School where is known as "Captain Green."  He has had a lifelong involvement with birding and bird study as the "bird nut" of Henry County.

Glen is survived by his wife, Janet Anderson, Geneseo; daughter, Sonja (Jay) Gorham, McHenry, IL; granddaughter, Rachael Gorham, McHenry, IL; sister, Rona (Jim) Rundgren; brothers, Ronnie (Marlene) Anderson and Jan (Darlene) Griesenbach; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna (Robert) Blodgett; father, Fred Anderson; and siblings, Dick Anderson, Janine (Jerry) Cunningham, and Dennis (Sharon) Anderson.
