Obituary

Glen M. Holm, 89, East Moline, died Friday, November 18, 2011 at Heartland Nursing Home, Galesburg. Funeral services are 10 AM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 3-6 PM Sunday (Today) at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Home, Knoxville, IL. Glen was born September 29, 1922 in Moline, the son of Axel and Edna Holm. He graduated from the University of Illinois, before serving in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. Glen was the sole survivor of a photo re-con mission in Japan after the bombing of Nagasaki (http://usshaven.org/Rescue%20Mission%20to%20Kyushu%20page%201.htm). He retired as a small arms equipment specialist after 40 years with the Rock Island Arsenal. He married Marilyn Zvonik. He later married Eileen Neu on June 13, 1969 in Moline. She died January 14, 2002. He was a handyman and a gardener. Survivors include his children(spouses); John Holm, Chula Vista, CA, Margaret (Jerry) Schershel, Kansas City, MO, Don (Roxanne) Holm, Walnut Creek, CA, Nancy (Allen) Morris, Palm Springs, CA, Jeffrey Holm, Las Vegas, NV, Courtney Holm, Indio, CA and Susan (Jim) Finch, Palm Springs, a son-in-law David Hultquist, seventeen grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Eileen, his daughter Susan Hultquist, a sister Evelyn, and a brother Warren.
