Funeral services for Gloria A. Korthals-Rhodes, 55, Coal Valley, are 1PM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Friday at the funeral home. Gloria died Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Trinity Regional Health Center, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Gloria was born March 24, 1953 in Geneseo, the daughter of William and Patricia (Anderson) Korthals. She married Dennis Rhodes on January 20, 1979. Gloria was a quality inspector at Harrington Signal, Moline, and enjoyed her work. Gloria enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping. She loved being with family and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Survivors include her husband Dennis, her sons and daughters-in-law; Thomas Sawyer, East Moline Dennis "D.J." and Toby Rhodes Jr., Moline and Timothy and Jennifer Sawyer, Port Byron, grandchildren: Meagan, Aleece, Kearston, Amanda, Airian, Haylee, Justin and Ashley, a great granddaughter Taylee, her parents Bill and Pat Korthals, Geneseo, sisters and brothers-in-law; Donna and Patrick Patton, Sacramento, CA, Beverly and Scott Nelson, Atkinson, and Trisha Edwards, Geneseo and a brother Robert Korthals, Geneseo, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother Kenneth.
