Gloria A Sherwood, 82, East Moline, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2012 at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf, IA. Per her wishes there will be no services with cremation rites to be accorded. Gloria was born on August 19, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY. She spent many years living in Southern and Northern California and moved to Illinois to be with her daughter and son-in-law. She is survived by her son, Alan (Kristine) Sherwood, Hayward, CA, daughter Bobbi (Jim) Kortenkamp, Colona, IL, brother Irving (Glenda) Forrest, Charlottesville, VA, grandson, Abraham Sherwood whom she adored, three step granddaughters, Kate Slaastad, Kara Potaracke and Kristina Kortenkamp, two nephews and a niece. Gloria loved living at Ridgewood Towers, where she made many special friends. She enjoyed reading, traveling, bingo, knitting and sharing stories of her growing up in New York and living in sunny Southern California. Despite many health problems she endured in her lifetime, she remained a glowing light for all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
