Gregory L. Polito, 58, Silvis, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Hope Creek, East Moline, after an extended illness. Funeral services are 10 AM Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation is 3-7 PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 2:30PM. In lieu of flowers and gifts, a memorial fund has been established. Greg was born on October 12, 1954 in Rock Island, the son of the late, Andrew J. and Alice M. (Leemans) Polito. He graduated from Moline High School. He married Dorothy M. Crimmins on January 27, 1979 at the home of his parents. Greg was an Arc Welder at the former John Deere Plow Planter, Moline. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Was an avid Chicago Bears fan, and had coached softball in his earlier years. Mr. Polito liked motor sports, especially drag racing at Cordova. He was always doing for others and enjoyed tinkering in his garage. Greg's greatest joy was watching his children grow into adulthood. Survivors include his wife Dorothy, daughters (spouses) Heather (Andrew) Gall, Mason, Michigan, Hailee (Mallory) Polito, Davenport, granddaughters, Addilyn and Stella, and siblings, Constance Polito, Charlotte, NC, Stephen Polito, Moline, Gerald (Lisa) Polito, Rock Island and Christine Parker, Phoenix, AZ.
