Gregory "Polock" Sovanski, 67, Moline, died Monday, February 4, 2013 at Trinity Rock Island. Funeral services are 10 AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the local American Cancer Society. Greg was born October 24, 1945 in Moline, the son of Adolph and Clara (Hamilton) Sovanski. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He married Judy Herbon Cook on June 12, 1982. She died May 22, 2005. He later married Lois Warren on December 29, 2007 in Moline. He had worked at the former International Harvester Farmall, Rock Island and retired in 1993 from Navistar in Ohio. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid NASCAR, Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He was a member of the Friends Circle Club and was on the board of directors at the East End Club, Moline. Survivors include his wife Lois, daughter Wendy Blair, Mt. Vernon, IA, step children, Theresa (Marc) Penney, Moline, Dawn (Jason) Stubbs, East Moline, and Michelle (Tony) Schwab, Hampton, grandson, Taylor Petersen, seven step granddaughters, brother Albert (Maggie) Sovanski, Coal Valley and sister, Kathleen (Raynold) Runge, Durant, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Shawn and wife Judy.
