Funeral services for Guadalupe J. "Guady" Medina, 74, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Monday, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, IL. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 1-6 PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 5:30PM. Mr. Medina died Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at his home. Memorials may be made to the family. Mr. Medina was born July 18, 1933 in Davis Junction, IL, the son of Mateo and Blaza (Herrera) Medina. He married Pauline Ramirez October 10, 1958 at the former St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Davenport, IA. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the former Case-IH Plant, East Moline, in 1990, after 33 years of service. He was currently working at the Quad City Car Wash, East Moline. Guady had been very active in local Democratic Politics. He had served as a Democratic Precinct Committeeman, a Hampton Township Trustee for 38 years, and he had helped Bob DeJaegher in the formation of the Hampton Township Health Clinic. He had been a life member at the East Moline VFW Post 8890, member at the Milan American Legion, and the Los Amigos Retirement Club. He was a Chicago Cubs Fan and Bears Fan. He loved going to his grandchildren's activities. Survivors include: his wife of almost 50 years, Pauline Medina of East Moline; daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Richard Bergez of Rockford, IL, Ellie and Tim Randleman of Silvis, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Guadalupe "Chauch" and Jo Medina of Rock Island, IL; grandchildren, Cassandra Nord, Rachel Bergez, Ryan Bergez, Andrew Randleman, Lauren Randleman, Emily Bergez; step grandchildren, Shannon and Mishel Layman; great grandchildren, Jayden Layman and Jaycee Lynn Rasdall; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Victor Teran of Rockford, IL, Mary Medina of Rockford, Ella Avendano of Rockford; brother and sister-in-law, Vince and Fran Medina of Rockford; mother-in-law, Juanita Ramirez of Davenport, IA; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Antonia Navarro and Toni Quevado, brothers, Pete Medina and John Medina. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
