Gus Fotos, 85, of East Moline, IL, left this world on June 7th 2024.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a Trisagion Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.

Gus was born Kostantinos Foteineas on May 13th 1939 to Yiannis and Ourania Fotineas ne Xirokosta in Filiatra, Greece. He was the youngest of four siblings. He worked hard to help provide for his family after World War II and the Greek Civil War. In 1966, Gus emigrated to the United States and settled in East Moline, joining his older brother who had settled there prior, along with several cousins. Gus owned and operated two different restaurants in the Quad Cities. From 1969 to 1978 he partnered with his brother George Fotos and dear friend Bill Mihalopoulos in ownership of Ridgewood Steak House in East Moline Illinois. He later owned and operated Gus's Koffee Break diner. Gus's was a fixture in downtown Rock Island for 25 years.

In 1975, he married his loving wife Toula (Panagiota Pandazopoulos) in his home town of Filiatra, Greece. Together they had three sons, John, Paris (Brooke), and Lambros. Love of family was the central principle of Gus's life. He had a passion for both Greek and American culture and was known for his love of Greek dancing. He also loved gardening and spending time with close friends.

Gus is survived by his wife and sons, his sister Toula (Louis) Poulimas, sister in law Anna Fotos, and many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings George Fotos, Anna Nicolitsa (John) Arvanitis.
