Funeral services for Gust M. Kouris, 85, of Moline will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Trisagion Service will be held at 7:00 PM. Mr. Kouris died Friday, November 09, 2007 at Trinity Medical Center West Campus, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Mr. Kouris was born April 14, 1922 in Hanna, Wyoming, the son of Marinos and Kyriakoula (Frangoudakis)Kouris. He had served in the US Coast Guard. He married Helen E. Kallas October 15, 1948 in Rock Spring, Wyoming. Gust had owned and operated Ted's Barber Shop for over 30 years. He had worked at Milan Drug, Green Chevrolet, and the YMCA, Moline. Gust was a humble servant of God who was beloved by all. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend whose goal in life was to do for others and not ask anything in return. He was committed to his church, enjoyed visiting with his friends, and exercising at the YMCA. Most importantly, he was proud of his grandchildren, and through his example, will always be emulated by his family and those he touched. Survivors include: his wife of 59 years, Helen Kouris of Moline; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Georgia Kouris of Moline, Andreas and Nancy Kouris of Nashville, TN, Chris and Kathy Kouris of Princeton, IL; grandchildren (spouse), Deno Kouris, Karisa (George) Andrianopoulos, Nick Kouris, Alaina (Jarod) Mullins, and Kassie (Daren) Slagel; great grandchildren, Natalie, Brayden, and Jayden; brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Sophie Kouris of Salt Lake City, UT; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Cleanthe Kouris and Goldie Karras, brothers, Andy, Michael, and Bill Kouris.
