After a short but courageous battle with cancer, Gwendolyn Joyce (Lee) Stowe died January 7th 2010 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA, peacefully with her family by her side. Gwendolyn was born January 19, 1941 in Moline, Illinois to parents Robert E. and Vera (Monroe) Lee of Silvis, Illinois. She graduated from United Township High School and the University of Illinois. She married Dr. Noel Stowe and had a daughter Julie Christine Stowe and a son James Stowe. After living in Spain they settled in Tempe, AZ where Gwen was the Dean of the School of English at Arizona State University. She retired in June of 2007. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Graham J and Patricia Lee, a nephew Clayton R and Lindsey Lee and a niece Meeghan N. Lee. She is preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Julie, son James, and her husband Noel. Memorials and donations may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Private family services will be held at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery, Moline.
