Harold Clark, 81, East Moline, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at his home. Funeral services are 10 AM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Roselawn Cemetery, Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to QC Animal Welfare, Milan or the East Moline American Legion. Harold was born August 4, 1935 in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was a self taught welder, machinist and fabricator. He could fix or make anything and ran a shop out of his garage for that purpose. He retired as an assembler from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. He married Shirley Warren on August 20, 1954 in Rock Island. She died September 13, 2011. Harold professionally raced Hydroplanes in the late 1950's and go-carts in the early 1960's, winning the indoor world championship in 1961. He and his son began snowmobile grass drag racing in 1975 and won many championships over the next 25 years. He and his buddy Clarence Ryker, owned a lawn mower repair shop in downtown East Moline. After the death of his wife, Harold and his daughter became very close. He enjoyed going to yard sales and traveling with his fiance. Harold had a way of lighting up the room when he entered. He was loved by his fiance and his family. Survivors include his children, Mark (Terri) Clark, Silvis, and Diane (Gary) Andrew, East Moline; grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Clark, Daniel (Alexis) Clark, Jeramie Andrew and Melissa Andrew; great grandchildren, Ruby, Marlea, Jameson, Kloie, and one on the way, and his fiance, Cathy Buffington. He was preceded in death by his wife, son Marvin, parents, Ezra and Martha Armstrong and half siblings, Larry Armstrong and Shirley Armstrong.
