Harold T. Long Jr., 90, Milan, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Funeral services are 11 AM Thursday at St. Pius X, Rock Island. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, with military honors. Visitation is 4-7PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Harold was born on September 6, 1923 in Kewanee, IL, the son of Harold and Clara (Versluys) Long Sr. He served in the US Coast Guard aboard the LST 23 from 1942 to 1945 in the South Pacific. The ship earned 6 battle stars. He married Beth E. Kenady on January 7, 1947 in Scott County, IA. He retired from John Deere Parts Distribution, Milan in 1986. Survivors include his wife Beth, children and their spouses, Linda and Steve Reeves, Mark and Cindy Long, Vickie and Jeff Burgess, Wally and Julie Long, Mary and Bob Dopler, Harold and Tina Long III, Tom and Karen Long, Teresa and Mark Harrington and Craig Long, grandchildren, Dan, Sam, Chris, Kyle, Mark, Angela, Lorrie, Apryl, Hollie, Becky, Tom, Tiffany, Keith, Julieanna, Chad, Ashley, Chelsey, Jaclyn, Jamie, Adam, Aaron, and Michael and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Edward Long.
