Funeral services for Harold "Mike" Michel, 101, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30PM. Mr. Michel died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities or the American Cancer Society. Mike was born August 25, 1912 in West Brooklyn, IL, the son of Jacob and Tina Burkart Michel. He married Marie Kingsbury February 5, 1941 in Tipton, IA. She died September 8, 1992. He had owned and operated cheese factories in Tipton, IA, and Farmington, IL. He later owned and operated cemeteries across the United States. He enjoyed fishing and had fished well into his 90's. Survivors include his sons, Dennis Michel, Minneapolis, MN, and Don Michel, East Moline, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, David Michel; 2 sisters, and 5 brothers.
