Private graveside services for Harold E. Swarts, 86, of East Moline, IL, will be held at Petrie Cemetery, New Windsor, IL. There will be no Visitation. He was cremated. Mr. Swarts died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at his home. Memorials may be made to Illini Foundation in his name or to Genesis Hospice. Harold was born April 8, 1926 in Avon, IL, the son of Russell and Hazel Roberts Swarts. He married Juanita Irene Skelton August 17, 1947 in East Moline. She died October 23, 1996. He retired from the former International Harvester Works December 31, 1980, after 35 years of service. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 1304. His hobbies were photography, fishing, and watching auto races. Survivors include his son, Michael (Sue) Swarts, Boone, IA; granddaughter, Michelle Swarts, Des Moines, IA; great grandchildren, Nathan and Kimberly Swarts, Des Moines; step grandchildren, Cynthia (Kenneth) Dierking, Johnanthan (Amy) Ward, and William (Danielle) Ward all of Boone; step great grandchildren, Taylor and Ashley Ward, Keaton and Sophie Dierking, Peyton, Trysten, and Ethan Ward all of Boone; sister, Donnalee Tuttle, East Moline.
