Funeral services for Harvey "Hoppy" J. Hopkins, 80, East Moline, are 11 AM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Hampton Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7PM Monday at the funeral home, with a rosary at 6:30 to 7PM. A memorial fund has been established. Harvey died Thursday, October 14, 2010 at his home, with his true love wife Karen and his cousin Lenny Wages by his side. He was born January 26, 1930, in Appanoose County Iowa, the son of George and Myrtle Garner Hopkins. He married Geraldine and together they had 7 children. He married his best friend and true love Karen Brown on October 29, 2001 in Cambridge, IL. He retired from ANR Trucking, Teamster Local 371. He was Veteran serving in the Med Core. Hoppy was a member of the Teamster Retiree Club; Moline Horseshoe Club; East Moline Horseshoe Club and the Colona Horseshoe Club. Survivors include his wife Karen, children: Michael of Georgia, Rick of Dixon, IA, Ed of Bettendorf, Annette Rainsford of LeClaire, IA, George of Durant, Mary Lynn Strohbehn of Durant and Paul of Dixon, grandchildren Jennifer, Misty, Rob, Amy, Autumn, Natasha, Dana, Dane, Austin and Jacob, 10 great grandchildren and brothers; Raymond of Florida and Dick of Ottumwa, IA and a special cousin Barb Wages and her family. He is preceded in death by 2 brothers; Lee and Bill.
