Funeral services for Harvey G. Jack, 88, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Jack died Friday, April 24, 2015, at home surrounded by his family. Harvey was born February 20, 1927, in Marseilles, IL, the son of Earnest and Mayvorite Rice Jack. He served in the US Navy during WWII, stationed in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Heywood. He married Marvetia Weekly June 8, 1947, at Watertown Baptist Church, East Moline. He retired from the Rock Island Lines, in 1976, after 23 years of service. Over the years he and his wife loved to travel and back pack together. Glacier National Park was their favorite destination. He had been an active member of the East Moline American Legion Post 227 Color Guard and the Silvis Optimist Club. He had recently participated in the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities. Harvey was a life long Chicago Bears Fan. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Survivors include his wife Marvetia Jack, Silvis; daughters, Lynn (John) Behrends, Moline, and Becky (Jim) Hasselbusch, Moline; sons, Mike Jack, Rock Island, Steve (Helen) Jack, Moline, and Jim (June) Jack, Fort Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren, Beth Behrends, Lance Jack, Harvey (Lindsey) Jack, Ezra Behrends, Jamei (Adam) Meier, Jack Hasselbusch, Lauren Jack, Michael Jack, and Matthew Jack; great grandchildren, Luke, Collin, and Carter; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Williamson, Janet Jack, and Hazel Jack. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 227 or the Silvis Optimist Club.
