Funeral services for Hector R. Fuentes, 64, of Coal Valley, IL, will be 10:00AM Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 5:30PM. Mr. Fuentes died Saturday, February 22, 2014 at VA Hospital, Minneapolis, MN. Memorials may be made to the family. Hector was born May 26, 1949 in Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico, the son of Evelio and Esperanza Zulaica Fuentes. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He married Minerva Martinez August 5, 1972 in Eagles Pass, TX. He had been a supervisor at Centinela State Prison, Imperial, CA. He had been a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who was loved by all. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Minerva Fuentes, Coal Valley; daughter, Veronica Fuentes, Rock Island, IL; son, Alberto Fuentes, Hemet, CA; grandchildren, Ariana, Alex, Angel, Daniel, Michael, and Albert Fuentes; sisters, Elvia (Enrique) Vasquez, IL, Ernestina (Ramon) Miramontes, MX, and Estela Fuentes, CA; brother, Evelio Fuentes, CA.
