Obituary

Helen A. Bertram, 92, East Moline, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at her home. Private family service will be held and burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.  The funeral will be live-streamed at 10 AM Tuesday at http://www.facebook.com/vanhoefuneralhome In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center.

Helen Ward was born on August 9, 1928 in Melrose, IA, the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Curran) Ward. She married Robert Bertram on June 11, 1949 in East Moline. She retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections in 1991. She enjoyed dancing, big band music, crafting, occasional trips to the casinos and her weekly lunches with her friends. Helen and her husband loved their vacation home in Poinsettia Park, Ft. Meyers, FL.

Survivors include her sons, Robert (Lucia) Bertram, Silvis and William Bertram Wausau, WI, grandchildren, Shanna Bertram and Elizabeth (Alex) Vedvik, great granddaughter, Alexandria Vedvik, godchildren, Chris Lambrecht and Carol George, brothers William Ward, East Moline and Leo Ward, Des Moines, IA many nieces and nephews and special friends, Pam Hall and Becky Bertram.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, siblings; Donald Ward, Marty Ward, John Ward, Mary Virnig, Carolyn Peters, and Judy Settles and her beloved grandson Christopher Bertram.
