Helen I. Carpenter, 96, East Moline, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Funeral services are 1PM Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation is from 12 PM until service time at the church. Memorials may be Made to Christ the King. Helen Grajewski was born December 14, 1921 in Cordova, IL, the daughter of Walter and Mary Ann (Krac) Grajewski. She married Cletus Carpenter on January 12, 1946 in Virginia, IL. He died June 2, 1995. Helen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed flower gardening, birdwatching and working on the farm. Helen was a nurturing soul and an amazing cook. Survivors include her children, Steve (Corinne) Carpenter, Silvis and Judy (Donald) Jones, Moline, daughter-in-law, Judy Polek, Hampton, six grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sons, William Polek and Jim Carpenter and brothers, Joseph and Edward.
