Helen M. Claeys, 85, Moline, formerly of East Moline passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. Funeral services are 11 AM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Heart Fund. Helen Smith was born June 19, 1921 in Cordova, IL, the daughter of the late Francis and Edith Smith. She married Lawrence Claeys on December 17, 1849. She had worked at the former Buddy L. Toy Factory, as a barmaid at the Little Cow Bell in East Moline and retired from United Township High School. Helen was a member of the Moline Activity Center. She enjoyed playing bingo, bunco, traveling and working on crafts. Survivors include 3 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a great-great grandson. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence who died in 1994, her daughter Linda Daigre, and a great granddaughter Larresa Whittington. She loved them dearly and missed them very much.
