Helen M. Machu, 97, Moline, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at St. Anthony's, Rock Island. Funeral services are 10 AM Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-6 PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3PM. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she was a member. Helen Heene was born on November 12, 1919 in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of Eugene and Prudence (Vyncke) Heene. She married Joseph Machu on July 2, 1948 in East Moline. He died May 23, 1995. Helen managed the deli counter for Stashu's in Moline for over 60 years, retiring in 2002. Helen was a devoted member of her church, serving in the women's group, funeral luncheon committee and rosary makers. Survivors include her children, Michael Machu, DesMoines, Prudence Morgan, Carbon Cliff and Jeffrey Machu, East Moline, grandchildren, Joshua and Jeremy and great granddaughter, Brianna, all of Denver. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Arthur Heene. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Anthony's for their care and compassion.
