Funeral services for Helen Panouses, 88, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Monday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Trisagion (Prayer) service will be held at 4:30PM. Mrs. Panouses died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at her daughter's home in Silvis. Memorials may be made to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, where she had been a member. Helen Lygouriatis was born August 15, 1925, in Horion Argolikon Naplion, Greece, the daughter of George and Fotini Katsanis Lygouriatis. She married William "Bill" Panouses in June of 1949 in the Bahamas. He died May 31, 2004. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed gardening. Helen's life was her family and her church. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had been a member of the Philoptochos Society and the choir at Assumption. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Daphne  and Guadalupe Olvera Jr., Silvis, granddaughters, Deana (Don) Mundt, Angela, Stacy, Victoria Olvera; great grandchildren, Alejandra, Marie, Joseph, and Gabriella; nephews, Nick (Sophia) Lygouriatis, George (Maria)  Lygouriatis, and several nieces and nephews in Canada and Greece. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Angeleki, Katina, and Panagoula; brothers, John, Nick, and Bill. The family would like to thank her granddaughters, special care taker, Lynette Taylor, Option Care, Beacon of Hope Hospice, especially, T.A, Angie, Jessica, and Shannon, for their help and outstanding care.
