Helen Pappademos, 83, formerly of Moline, passed away on May 6, 2014 at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL. Funeral services are 10 AM Tuesday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery, Moline. Visitation is 4-8PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, where a Trisagion Service will be held at 7PM. Memorials may be made to Assumption Church, East Moline, St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, Elk Grove, CA or St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church, Springfield, IL. Helen Karkazis was born August 3, 1930 in Rizis, Greece, the daughter of Rev. Constantine and Vasiliki (Zees) Karkazis. She married Christos Pappademos on May 9, 1954 in Chicago, IL. He died February 14, 1990. Helen had worked as a sales associate at LaRose, Peterson Harned VonMaur and Yonkers, all in Moline. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, bowling and gardening. Survivors include her children, Michael Pappademos, Orlando, FL, Fr. Constantine "Dino" (Chrisoula) Pappademos, Elk Grove, CA, Paula Pappademos-Boeker, Springfield, IL, Kristina Pappademos, Evanston, IL, grandchildren, Katy, Christo and Dimitri Pappademos, Niko and Alexa Boeker, and brothers Lambros Karkazis, and James (Phyllis) Karkazis, both of LaGrange, IL and Dr. George (Myrsini) Karkazis, Wilmette, IL. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Daphne Bagatelas and Soula Kotsionis.
