Funeral services for Helen Spurgetis, 84, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Monday at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Rock Island, IL. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Trisagion (prayer) service will be held at 6:30 PM. Mrs. Spurgetis died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Helen Anggeloplos was born January 20, 1931, in Moline, the daughter of John and Katherine Galanoplos Anggeloplos. She graduated from United Township High School in 1948 and retired from John Deere Foundry in 1992. She was a member of the Philoptochos Society of St. George and the Daughters of Penelope. Survivors include her sons, Steven (Julia) Spurgetis, Hazelwood, MO, and Timothy (Tiffany) Spurgetis, Hampton, IL; grandchildren, Alexander and Nicholas, Hazelwood, Evan and Shane, Hampton, and Madison (Andre), Colorado Springs, CO; great grandchildren, Micah and Aliyah. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Grace Vretis; brothers, Frank, James, Nick, and Gus Angelos Memorials may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church or the American Cancer Society.
