Henry J. Bowman , 79, of Moline, IL, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025 in Chicago, IL.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 4th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL. Interment, with military honors presented by VVA Post 299, will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 3pm Wednesday, December 3rd, at the funeral home, with visitation following from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America, Quad Cities Chapter 299.
Henry Joseph Bowman was born February 11, 1946, in Geneseo, Illinois, to George and Gertrude (VanHerzeele) Bowman. He graduated from Geneseo High School, Class of 1964. He and Susan C. Davis were married on May 19, 1979, in East Moline.
Henry was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from John Deere Harvester Works following 35 years of service. Following his retirement, he enjoyed the lay of the land, being outdoors, farming and gardening.
Some of his favorite times were those spent with family and friends. He will be fondly remembered as a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan, of Moline; daughter and son-in-law, Laura Bowman Dathe, and her husband Todd, of Brandon, SD; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Henry Bowman, and his wife, Tracy, of Elk Grove Village, IL; grandchildren, Jackson, Morgan, and Megan Dathe, Grace, Claire, and twins, David and Henry Bowman; sister, Jeanne Carton, Atkinson, IL; brother and sister-in-law, George and Mary Bowman; ten nieces and nephews; 22 great nieces and great nephews, mother-in-law, Nancy Davis, East Moline, IL; brother-in-law John Davis, Bartlett,Il and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gertrude; brother-in-law Warren Carton, brother, William; and father-in-law, Don Davis.
