Funeral services for Henry L. DeBates Jr., 75, of East Moline, IL, will be 2:00 PM Saturday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday. Mr. DeBates died Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA. Memorials, may be made to the family. Henry was born April 28, 1935 in Redwood, MN, the son of Henry and Elsie Snook DeBates Sr. He married Wanda Diane (Smith) Durry August 30, 1975 in Rock Island, IL. He retired from H.C. Duke, East Moline, in 1985 after 25 years of service. He enjoyed playing cards. Above all, he loved his grandchildren and family. Survivors include his wife, Wanda DeBates of East Moline; daughters, Dorene Hammond of Warsaw, MO, Kelly DeBates of Sedalia. MO; sons and daughters-in-law, Henry (Cindy) DeBates of Sedalia, Raymond (Paula) DeBates, Sedalia, David (Paula) DeBates of Columbia, MO, John DeBates (Patricia Johnson) of Moline; step-daughters, Tina (Eric) Strider Tuscon, AZ, Melissa (Gary) Swift of Port Byron, IL; 24 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Carol Smith of Seaton, IL, Shirley Stewart of Moline, Pat (Kenny)Schaecher of Colona, IL, Catherine Hayes of East Moline; brothers, Chuck (Kathy) DeBates of Rock Island.
