Obituary

Henry Pompa, 76, Moline, died Wednesday January 4, 2012 at his home. Funeral services are 10 AM Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the VFW 8890 of East Moline will conduct military honors. Visitation is 4-7PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline with a rosary recited at 4PM. A memorial fund has been established. Henry was born on December 3, 1935 in Silvis, IL, the son of Celso and Frances (Guerrero) Casando. He was an avid bicycler, and an independent recycler. Henry was a handy man and did lawn maintenance. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include a sister Marcelina Casando, Springfield, IL, nieces and nephews (spouses); Vickie (Dario) Gonzalez, Christina (John) Burns, Ramona (Dwayne) Dennis, Frances (Jaime) Cantu, Manuel (Sandy) Terronez, and Juan (Herminia) Guerrero, great nieces and nephews; Annette (Jose) Gonzalez, Ruben (Norma) Gonzalez, Maria (Robert) Almanza, Alejandro (Kelly) Gonzalez, Augustine (Janel) Gonzalez and Dario Gonzalez Jr., and many other great and great-great nieces and nephews and special friends, Inez and Consuelo Gonzalez. Henry is preceded in death by his siblings, Mary, Rebecca, Joe, Mike, Clementino, Gregario and Frank.
