Funeral services for Herbert M. Anderson, 86, Silvis, are 12 Noon Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Beulah Cemetery, Orion. Visitation is 4-7 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the Stained Glass Fund at Zion Lutheran Church. Herb died Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at his home. Herb was born March 13, 1924 in Milan, IL, the son of Herbert O and Lola Steel Anderson. He married Alverda Wilson, on February 19, 1944 in Chicago. She died September 8, 2008. Herb had worked as a meat cutter, as a tool and dye maker, and had done upholstery work. He owned and operated Herb's Donuts in Rapids City. He enjoyed wood carving, fishing, and boating. He served in the US Navy during WWII. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Judy and Jay VanPaemel, Fairfield Glade, TN, son and his fiancée Herbert Anderson Jr., and Pam Hopkins, Moline; grandchildren, , Daren L. VanPaemel, Michael J. VanPaemel, Dawn L. Schussler, Jeffrey M. Anderson, Jeremy S. Anderson, Justin L. Anderson, and Sue E. Mathis; twelve great grandchildren and 2 on the way; a brother James A. Anderson, Davenport, and sisters Juanita Yeager, Davenport and Laura Peterson of Arizona. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alverda and sisters; Marge Tharp and Vivian Berberich.
