Hildegard Breitenbach, 86, of Silvis passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at her home. Funeral services will be held 1:30PM Tuesday November 27, 2018 at Van Hoe Funeral Home, Ltd., in East Moline. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home (12:30-1:30) where a memorial fund has been established. Interment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Hildegard was born August 21, 1932 in Munich, Germany, a daughter of Ludwig and Sophie (Ostermeier) Bloch. She married Charles James Breitenbach Jr., on August 13, 1954 in Munich. He passed away May 31, 2008. She immigrated from Germany after marrying Charles in 1954. She was very patriotic and loved the USA very much. She was a lifelong homemaker, and enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family. She was an avid member of the East Moline AMVETS and East End Club. Mrs. Breitenbach is survived by 3 children: Sandy (Bill Thyberg) Davis of Des Moines, IA; Charlotte Green of Indianapolis, IN; and Mark (Mary Lynn) Breitenbach of Silvis; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1-great-great-grandson; 3 sisters: Lotte, Micky, and Gerti all of Germany; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charlie, brother Hermann, and son-in-law Paul Green.
