Obituary

Funeral services for Hildegard J. Vyncke, 88, Rock Island, formerly of East Moline, are 10 AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Visitation is 4-7PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Corey Arvanis Scholarship Trust, The National Bank. Hildegard died Monday, April 07, 2008 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice, Bettendorf. She was born February 3, 1920 in Germany, the daughter of Ernest and Bertha (Lienau) Jablon. She and her parents and brother immigrated to the US in 1924, settling in Decatur, IL. The family moved to East Moline in 1937, and she graduated in 1938 from UTHS. In 2007, she moved to Friendship Manor, Rock Island. She married Frank J. Vyncke in 1944 and together they had 2 daughters. Her family owned and operated Palmer Flower Shop in East Moline, where she worked before changing professions and working as an accountant at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1989. Hildegard loved to travel and had taken many cruises. She was a member of Heritage Weselyn Church, Rock Island. Mrs. Vyncke enjoyed playing bridge and played in many bridge groups. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Dean Rothbart, Dunlap, IL; grandchildren Christine Chaney, and Matthew Rothbart, both of Joliet, and great grandchildren Tyler and Alaina Rothbart and Jaimison Chaney. Her parents, daughter Sandra Rade, grandson Corey Arvanis and brother Heinz "Jab" Jablon preceded her in death.
