Hollis E. "Gene" Jennings, 86, of East Moline, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 at his home. Funeral services are 10 AM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 3-7 PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd,. East Moline. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation. Gene was born November 13, 1930 in Grant City, MO, the son of C.H. and Marjorie (Simpson) Jennings. He married Lola F. Draker on February 13, 1954 at St. Joseph Church, Hills, IA. As a young man he farmed with his father. He went to work for Jaydon in Coralville, IA and retired from Jaydon Distribution, Milan, as a warehouse supervisor. He served in the National Guard. Gene was a family man who enjoyed the Hawkeyes and the Cubs. Survivors include his wife of nearly 63 years, Lola, children, Dennis Jennings, Libertyville, IL, Rick (Cindy) Jennings, Moline, Deb (Mark) Knobloch, East Moline and Patty Jennings, East Moline; grandchildren, Sam (Trish Oura) Jennings, Jessica (Brandon) Harris, Amanda (Brett) Carter, Stacey (Joe) Sculfort, Eric Jennings, Ellen (Brian) Burgmeier, Thomas Jennings (Addison Huffman), Steven Jennings, Cloie Jennings, Jacob Knobloch, Lucas Knobloch, Zachary (Samantha) Knobloch, Jordan Jennings and Abbi Parrish; seven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Charles (Marilyn) Jennings, Iowa City, Ron (Ann) Jennings, North Liberty, IA, and Connie (Ralph) Herring, Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter; daughter-in-law, Jean Jennings; and grandson, Sam Knobloch.
