Funeral services for Homer M. Martin, 84, of East Moline, IL, will be 11:00 AM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Martin died Friday, June 13, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to the family. Homer was born December 7, 1923 in Chilhowie, VA, the son of Joseph and Susanne (Bonham) Martin. He was a graduate of Cambridge High School, Cambridge, IL. He married Betty Twing. He later married Alice (Ruark) Means October 17, 1970. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He had worked at the former International Harvester Farmall Plant, East Moline. He then owned and operated Martin Mini Motors in Silvis, IL, with his wife. Homer was a well known lead guitar player in country western bands in and around the Quad City area. He had been a life member of the VFW 2056, East Moline. Survivors include: his wife, Alice Martin of East Moline; daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Alan Earle of Lee Summit, MO, Terri and Edward Kienka of Celebration, FL; stepdaughter, Debbie Johnson of Galesburg, IL; stepson, Harry Means of East Moline; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren: 5 step grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Dorothy Boles of Davenport, IA, Irene and George Toft of Cambridge.
