Funeral services for Howard D. Gorzney, 96, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:30AM Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00AM Saturday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mr. Gorzney died April 6, 2011 at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Howard was born October 10, 1914 in Morrison, IL, the son of Stanley and Mabel Hickey Gorzney. He married Alice M. Murphy November 23, 1939 in Dubuque, IA. She died July 5, 2002. He had been president of Howard D. Gorzney Inc, retiring in 1985, after 50 years of service. He had been an honorary life time member of the Knights of Columbus Allouez Council and a lifetime member of the NRA. He enjoyed golfing and hunting. Survivors include brother, Robert (Doris) Gorzney of Silvis; sister-in-law, Pat Gorzney of Picayune, MS; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Howard Michael Gorzney, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers.
