Howard S. Kapple 95, of Silvis, IL, died Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis. A private celebration of life will be held at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Howard S. Kapple was born November 18, 1919 in Andover, IL, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kapple. He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Shirley Ott in February 1950 in Moline, IL. She died November 24, 2008. He retired from Friden Business Machines in the late 1960's. He later retired from the Rock Island Arsenal, where he worked as a service technician for 10 years. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Streiff, Glenview, IL; sons, Brian (Kim) Kapple, East Moline, and Steven Kapple (Katie Joshu), Rochester, IL; grandchildren, Ivy Kwielford, Lavender Streiff, Erin Thukkaram, and Kelly Kapple; great grandchildren, Elsa and Soren Thukkaram, and Skyler Kwielford.
