Howard O. Nelson, 76, of Coal Valley, passed away Saturday June 23, 2018 at UnityPoint Health in Rock Island. Cremation has been accorded. No services will be held at this time. Private inurnment will be held at Coal Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Van Hoe Funeral Home, Ltd., in East Moline is in charge of arrangements. Howard was born September 26, 1941 in Galesburg a son of Ray Francis and Marion (Brown) Nelson. He graduated from UTHS in East Moline in 1959 and later married Diana (Lundeen) Claussen on March 15, 1975 in Moline. He worked for over 27 years at Case IH in East Moline retiring in 2000. He is survived by his wife, Diana; children: Robert Nelson of Rock Island, Julie (Jim) Riley of East Moline, Debbie (Brad) Snell of Sherrard, Tammy (Don) Diamond of Cambridge, Missy (Don) Lindholm of Moline; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, 2 sisters: Glenda (Jim) Vyncke of Andover, and Laura Miller of Opheim; a brother: Arnold (Sam) Nelson of Colona; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: James Nelson and brother: Ray Nelson.
