Funeral services for Howard F Schatteman, 82, Moline, are 10 AM Friday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 5-7 PM today (Thursday) at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a liturgy service will be read at 6:30PM. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island. Mr. Schatteman died Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at St. Anthony's. He was born March 18, 1924 in East Moline, the son of Fred and Minnie VandeVelde. He married Patricia Palmer, December 31, 1942 at St. Anne's. Howard had worked as a milkman for Bakers Dairy Moline and as an inspector for John Deere. Howard was a radio operator in the Army Air-Corp during WWII. He enjoyed woodworking and built children's toys that will always be cherished by family. He dearly loved the time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the AMVETS. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Patricia, children and spouses Nancy (Ed) Coram, East Moline, Deb (Jack) Meyers, Searcy Ark., Sue (Alan) Fensterbusch, Cape Coral, FL, and James (Beth Carlson) Schatteman, East Moline, eleven grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a brother LeRoy (Beverly) Schatteman, East Moline.
