Funeral services for Ida R. Smith, 92, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Friday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline, IL. Private burial services will be held in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, West Ely, MO. Visitation will be 3:00-700 PM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mrs. Smith died Monday, April 12, 2010 at the Kahl Home, Davenport, IA. Memorials may be made to the Kahl Home. Ida was born September 27, 1917 in Monroe City, MO, the daughter of Ernest and Elizabeth Mette Rothfuss. She married Herbert Smith December 25, 1936 in Hannibal, MO. He died in Sept of 1974. She had worked as a secretary for the former F.W. Means, East Moline. She then worked for Jewel Food Stores as a Demo Person and in her later years she had worked for Kit Moss as a Demo Person also. She enjoyed work because she was able to be with people. Ida loved family functions. She was famous for her apple pies. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Dale Hurley of Elsberry, MO, Diane and Randy Halley of East Moline; sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Helen Smith of Moline, Ron Smith of Liberty, IL, Larry and Rose Smith of Bettendorf, IA, Ernest and Linda Smith of Bettendorf, Mike and Rita Smith of Eldridge, IA, Dennis and Lori Smith of Lodi, WI; 21 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Karen Ruth, grandsons, Brad, Matthew, and Michael, sister, Edna Gordiner, brothers, George Rothfuss, Gene Rothfuss, and Earl Rothfuss.
