Irene M. DeMeulenaere, 97, of Rock Island, IL, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024, at Silver Cross/ Friendship Manor, Rock Island.

Private family services will be at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with interment following at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Irene was born February 4, 1927, in Moline, Illinois, a daughter of Julius and Mary Bultynck DeMeulenaere. She graduated from Moline High School.

She worked at A.T.& T and its predecessors beginning before high school graduation.

Irene was a long-time member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, and was involved in many church activities over the years.

Surviving are her nieces, Ruth (Bernard) Brus, Walcott, IA, Laura Flint, Sartell, MN, and Mary (Luke) Sakalosky, Bettendorf, IA; five great nieces and great nephews; and one great-great niece and two great-great nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Mary, and her sister Rose Marie Pauwels.
