Irene L. Neighbours, 82, East Moline, died peacefully Friday, June 8, 2012 at her home. Visitation is 2-4PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Private family committal will be held at Rock Island National Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Irene Fischer was born February 4, 1930 in Merrill, IA, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Ressen) Fischer. She married Robert J. Neighbours on February 1, 1947 in Kansas City, KS. He died July 7, 2006. After her children were raised, she attended Scott Community College and received her CDL license and drove over the road with her husband for 3 years. Irene enjoyed playing cards with her friends and working in her flower garden. Survivors include her children Carol I. Nicholson, Bettendorf, and Tim (Tammy) Neighbours, Davenport, grandchildren, Tony Nicholson, Cindy (Matt) Poell, Tracy Nicholson and Angel Adleman, 6 great grandchildren and her extended family living throughout the US. She was preceded in death by her husband and son Jerry.
