Irene M. Behnke, 92, of Colona, IL, passed away Friday, December 8, 2023, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, IL.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, December 13, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, December 12, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.

Irene was born November 11, 1931, in Kewanee, Illinois, a daughter of Roland and Josephine Bessant Piester. She married Charles A. "Wild Bill" Behnke on December 24, 1947, in Kewanee. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2004.

She was a homemaker and will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all.

She enjoyed caring for her family and her pet dogs, antiquing, and spending time with friends and family making memories.

Surviving are her children, Charles A. Behnke, Jr., Colona, Linda (John) Goff, Taylor Ridge, IL, Roland "Ron" Behnke, Colona, Josephine "Josie" (Darrell) Kepner, Kewanee, IL, and Cindy (James) Wolff, Fon du Lac, WI; son-in-law, Leonard Warner, Carbon Cliff, IL; grandchildren, Rick (Paula) Behnke, Melissa Goff, JoAnna (Doug) Green, Deb (Phil) Pendleton, Carolyn Behnke (Milo Veloz), John (Traci) Clemann, Jennifer (Travis) Goossens, DeAnn (Shannon) Lanxon, Nancy (Mickael) Clemann, Mark (Britney) Wolff, Gary (Amber) Wolff, Butch Davis, Elizabeth (Jerry) Winkelbauer, Susan Davis-Rimkus, Michael Warner, Todd Warner, Nick (Kelli) Behnke and Sylvia Murphy; numerous great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Piester; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband; daughters, Madeline Green and Sharon Warner; son, Alan Behnke; one granddaughter in infancy; one grandson, Bobby Behnke; her parents; and siblings, Lorraine Wanket and Bob Piester.
